About Chapter #443

Veterans, Family, and the Open Road

The American Legion Riders bring together eligible members of the American Legion Family who share a love of motorcycling and a commitment to veterans, their families, youth, and community service.

Our Mission

Serve First. Ride Together. Leave Things Better.

Chapter #443 exists to put motorcycling to work for a purpose. We raise funds and awareness for veterans and their families, support youth and community programs, and represent the American Legion Family with respect wherever we ride.

We are not a club apart from the Legion — we are a program of the American Legion Family, made up of members who happen to ride. That means our service comes first and the miles follow.

Our home is Sanford, Michigan. The roads we ride, the families we help, and the events we support are mostly right here in our own backyard.

What We Do

Service That Shows Up

Charity Rides & Drives

We ride and organize for causes that support veterans, children, and families across Mid-Michigan.

Honor & Ceremony

Riders stand with the American Legion Family at memorials, parades, and honor details when called upon.

Veteran Support

We help veterans and families find their way to benefits, programs, and people who can help.

Post & Community Events

From Post #443 fundraisers to community celebrations, our members show up and pitch in.

Brotherhood, Sisterhood & the Open Road

Miles Make Friendships. Service Makes Them Last.

There's something honest about a group ride: everyone watching out for the rider next to them, everyone headed the same direction for the same reason. That same instinct carries into everything else we do.

Veterans who've been out for decades, newer members still finding their footing, spouses and family members, riders and passengers alike — all of it works because nobody is expected to do it alone.

You don't have to be the fastest rider or the loudest voice in the room. You just have to care about the mission and be willing to lend a hand.
